Boelter Project earns FE&S 2021 Facility Design Project of the Year

Our team here at Boelter is thrilled that the Pavilion Dining Center at University of California - Merced was won Foodservice Equipment and Supplies' magazine's 2021 Facility Design Project of the Year! This project has already received an extremely positive customer response for Pavilion, UC Merced from students and faculty at the university. The new foodservice brings new excitement to the dining area and was built to enable lots of flexibility for new menu items and offerings. Boelter's talented Max Barrera served as a project manager and equipment dealer for the large scale project. Since the renovation, transparency and efficiency have increased and the dining facilities serve over 5,000 people each day. 

As said by FE&S:

The new all-you-care-to-eat central dining facility, named Pavilion, serves as a critical link between old and new buildings on campus. The largest dining commons on campus, Pavilion can serve 5,000 customers per day. It seats 600 in the main dining room, 100 on the outside terrace and 95 in private dining rooms.

The project includes a central production kitchen with a catering production component, four hybrid theater cooking platform stations, a grab-and-go convenience station, a coffee/espresso bar, two self-service soup and salad bars, warewash, a storage area (refrigerated, frozen, paper), a waste room and a staff break room. The building is on pace to receive LEED Platinum certification.
